Star Wars: Episode IX welcomes J.J. Abrams back to take the helm!

The Star Wars franchise has seen it’s ups and downs over the years. But none so frequent in terms of downs (behind the scenes at least) than in the past few years outside of the first 3 Episodes. The Star Wars sequels begans with The Force Awakens, followed by it’s spin off Rogue One, and with The Last Jedi and a solo Han Solo film still in production; each film has seen it’s fair amount of bumps in the road.

The biggest news came recently when now former director of Episode IX Colin Trevorrow and Disny/Lucas Films parted ways. This put the production on hold and also brought more rumors and speculation to the theory of the doomed franchise as it’s production hit more road blocks. Though most may not remember than almost every Star Wars film since A New Hope has faced issues that even almost killed the entire franchise from the get go.

But once more the gods of Star Wars turned to the man who helped bring The Force Awakens back to Star Wars glory. The most recent reports confirmed that J.J. Abrams will return to co-write and direct Episode IX to finish the sequel trilogy. Kathleen Kennedy stated that “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy..” The  $2.06 billion worldwide box office receipts and it being the third highest-grossing film of all time didn’t hurt as well!

Either way we are excited that J.J. is back. Although many felt that The Force Awakens did not surpass their expectations; it will still go down as a great Star Wars film and a much needed move in the right direction for the overall franchise. Comment below!
