Flick Picks June 30th

01) Unfortunately, Timeless has been canceled, again. And it looks like this time it’s going to stick. However, there are plans for a TV movie that will resolve the season 2 finale.

02) It’s been announced that Chris Wood’s Mon-El will not be returning to Supergirl for season 4.

03) The Watchmen TV series has added Sleepy Hollow star Tom Mison to the cast, as well as Frances Fisher and Jacob Ming-Trent.

03.5) American Gods writer Maria Melnik will be writing the screenplay for Sony Pictures adaptation of Valiant Comics’ Faith. Sony and Valiant Comics are also working on an adaptation of the Bloodshot comic book series starring Vin Diesel, Eiza Gonzalez, Toby Kebbell and Sam Heughan. A Harbinger Renegades film is also said to be in the works.

04) Another Stephen King adaptation is coming. His 1973 short story The Boogeyman is now in development by 20th Century Fox and being written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who also wrote A Quiet Place.

05) Another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is in development by Paramount. They just hired Andrew Dodge to write a new screenplay. This will not me TMNT 3, but a brand new start.

06) George Clooney is apparently in talks to direct the sci-fi tech thriller Echo from 20th Century Fox and written by Christopher MacBride.

07) Robert Zemeckis is replacing Guillermo del Toro as the director of Roald Dahl’s The Witches for Warner Brothers. Del Toro will still be producing the film. Zemeckis will also be writing and producing the movie along with Jack Rapke. Rumor has it Donald Glover and Ryan Gosling are linked to a reboot of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

08) More info has come out about Warner Brother’s Joker origin movie starring Joaquine Phoenix is moving forward and apparently Robert de Niro is in talks to join the film as Murray Franklin. Also in Joker news, the other Joker movie, starring Jared Leto, now has a working title, Romeo.

09) Jared Leto will now be joining the Marvel universe. Leto will be playing Morbius in the Spider-Man spinoff Morbius: The LIving Vampire. Daniel Espinosa is directing and Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama will be writing the script. They recently wrote Netflix’s Lost in Space and 2017s Power Rangers.

10) Marvel has hired composer Pinar Toprak to score the Captain Marvel film. Toprak has worked on Fortnite and Syfy’s Krypton, and will be the first female composer to score a major comic-book movie.

10.5) Kevin Feige has confirmed that Doctor Strange 2 is happening. That is all we know.

11) Finally, Ant Man and the Wasp opens on the 6th.
